South of Ireland
Open 2026
A memorable day for Ascend Blades Fencing Club at the South of Ireland Open 2026.
Competing in the Senior Women’s Épée, Vita Fedotova produced another outstanding performance, winning silver and finishing 2nd overall.
At just 13 years old, Vita showed confidence, maturity, and determination against a field of experienced senior fencers.
The day was also special for Nicole Menezes, who was competing in her first-ever senior competition.
Nicole earned 2 victories in the pool round, gained valuable experience, and finished 9th overall.
Stepping up to senior level is never easy, and this was an excellent start to her journey in adult competition.

Vita Fedotova Finishes 9th at EFC Lausanne 🇨🇭⚔️

Vita Fedotova
Produced another impressive international performance
at the European Fencing Circuit U14 event in Lausanne,
Switzerland.
Competing against 26 athletes from across Europe,
Vita delivered an outstanding pool round,
winning all 6 of her bouts and finishing 2nd after the pools,
one of only four undefeated fencers in the competition.
Entering the direct elimination stage as one of the top seeds,
Vita fought her way to an excellent 9th-place finish overall,
continuing her development against some of the strongest young épée fencers in Europe.
Results like this are especially encouraging because they show that
Vita is consistently able to compete at the front of the field internationally.
Finishing 2nd after the pools and ending the competition inside
the Top 10 is another important milestone in her progress.

Irish Epee Youth Series – GRAND FINAL 2026
The final event of the Irish Epee Youth Series season is complete
and what an incredible way to finish the year.
This Grand Final was about much more than medals.
It was about confidence, first victories, difficult fights, learning under pressure,
supporting teammates, and seeing how much every young fencer has grown throughout the season.
Ascend Blades had fencers competing across multiple age categories,
and we could not be prouder of the entire team.

Ascend Blades Shine at Irish Épée Youth Series – Dublin 🇮🇪
Ascend Blades Fencing Club delivered an outstanding performance at the Irish Épée Youth Series in Dublin,
with strong results across multiple age groups and a fantastic team spirit throughout the day.
In the U17 Women’s event, the club dominated the podium:

Strong Performance by Oisín at Challenge Wratislavia 2026
We would like to congratulate Oisín Johnston on his performance at the Challenge Wratislavia 2026 in Wrocław, Poland, competing in the U11 Boys’ Épée category.
Oisín delivered an excellent performance in the poules, winning all of his bouts (6/6), showing confidence, focus, and strong tactical understanding on the piste.
Following the direct elimination rounds, he finished in 34th place in a highly competitive international field.
This result reflects both his growing experience and the quality of his fencing at this stage of development.

Senior Women’s Épée
Two fencers from Ascend Blades Fencing Club competed in the Senior Women’s Épée event at the East of Ireland Open 2026 in Dublin.
Aleksandra Grigorjan finished the competition in 3rd place, showing strong fencing throughout the elimination rounds and securing a place on the podium.
Vita Fedotova finished 8th overall after a solid performance during the competition.
A special moment of the tournament came in the quarterfinal, where the two teammates faced each other for a place in the semifinal. After a very close and exciting bout, Aleksandra won 15–14, advancing to the semifinals.
It was a proud moment for the club to see two Ascend Blades fencers reaching the top eight in a senior national event, demonstrating the progress and competitive spirit of the club’s athletes.

A positive and character-building performance at senior level.After a narrow 4–5 loss in her opening pool bout, Vita responded strongly, winning her next four matches and finishing 5th after the pools.
